I Have Great Friends

31 July 2008 @ The Curve, Mutiara Damansara

Another meet up with my old friends. This time, with my ex-UTARian friends.

Phuah, Me, Carmen, Kenneth [nice meeting you]

Had early dinner at Winter Warmers Coffee & Teahouse before the movie. I didn't eat anything coz' I had late lunch, just drank some herbal tea.

so English style..

Then, it's show time! We watched The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. It kinda reflects the cruelness of Qin Shi Huang Ti.

The show was quite good with a little humour but the plot was pretty predictable. Find treasures, mummy came to life and kills the mummy.

I kinda like to see Michelle Yeoh in action, though feeling a bit weird hearing her speak Mandarin. Just like The Forbidden Kingdom, i wonder why ancient Chinese people can speak English! Haha...

Carmen was craving for Baskin Robbins ice-cream. So Baskin Robbins we went and bought a quad size handpacked to be shared.

We had Cookies n' Cream, Rainbow Sherbet and World Class Chocolate. Yummies. My first time having BR in Malaysia after a few rounds in Korea. =P

Me with small cup and Carmen with big cup

Carmen looks like a glutton when it comes to BR ice-cream. Too bad I can't post the pictures here, or else I'll be dead the next day.

Then I took out the graduation gift from them. It's a neck tie and I tried to put it on.

Here it goes...

Tada!

geesh, I look like a drunken master

I think this is the first time I posted so many photos of myself in one post. Haha...

Anyway, THANKS Carmen, Phuah, ShenWei and CY for the beautiful tie. I promise I'll wear it on my convocation day!

Though I've only known them for one trimester and they have been great friends all along. Treasure Friendships. Billy, out.

Chelsea Training Session

28 July 2008 @ Shah Alam Stadium

Chelsea was in Malaysia and THANKS to Nuffnang, I get to see them in person! (though not really close up with them)

I got two passes to see Chelsea FC train in Shah Alam Stadium one day before the friendly match between Chelsea and Malaysia. I decided to bring along the Liverpool-Big-Fan, my brother.

After a smooth drive to Shah Alam [which I didn't expect], we finally reached the stadium. My first time stepping in there after by-passing it so many times.

I was there one hour before the training starts and there were already hundreds of people.

I tried to find a good spot to take photos and managed to get to stand on the second row near the exit where players come out.

The first player coming out to the field is Petr Čech. People screamed. People shouted. People sang. People fainted. OK, no one fainted.

Moments later, the team led by John George Terry came out. That's the best shot I got, their backs...

Here's the front shot of them, by Glenn Guan/The Star.

While the players are warming up, here comes Chelsea's mascot, STAMFORD!

Stamford trying to shake hand with the audience

The goalkeepers warming up at one side...

... while other players stretching on the other side of field

There're more and more people in the stadium and a lot of them were actually wearing Chelsea's jersey. I can't believe some of them actually dare to wear pirated Chelsea jersey to see the players. Haha...

Then, the players were separated into two teams to play against each other using only half the field. Quite interesting to see them play.

We hit the roads before the crowd jammed up the place. Bye bye Chelsea! Bye bye Shah Alam Stadium!

Some beautiful close up shots by Glenn Guan:

Deco (centre) trying to get the ball

A short clip: Orange team scored a goal

It was great to be able to see them in person, from far. All thanks to Nuffnang once again. Billy, out.

Floating Village

4 June 2008 @ Tonle Sap, Cambodia

The Tonle Sap lake or known as Large Fresh Water River by the Cambodians, is the largest fresh water lake in South East Asia. Here lies the Floating Village of Cambodia.

After visiting so many temples during the day, we decided to catch on something different, a visit to the Floating Village at Tonle Sap. [Price: US$10 per person]

On the way to the jetty, MinBee shot this scene. Beautiful ain't it?

Reached the jetty. The four of us took one of the boats and head towards the lake. Along the narrow river, we saw floating schools, floating church, floating basketball court and many floating houses. Even some of the villagers are floating on the water.

school children paddling back home

All of a sudden, the sky turned dark and heavy rain started falling. We got ourselves all wet before we reach the place where we're supposed to stop.

soaked & happy

saw a palm civet at the restaurant

and also a live crocodile

The rain finally stopped and we decided to tour around the village before heading back. We thought we can see the sunset but the sky disappoint us again.

One big happy family dining in a little floating house

Saw this kid on a basin without his left arm. Poor fella...

The second part of this journey is about the unforgettable experience on the way back to town. Took us 2 hours to get outta there! I'll update part 2 pretty soon. Billy, out.
