Bukit Larut

14 September 2008 @ Bukit Larut, Perak

It was the second last day of our HSBB Induction Course and it was another team building day. Activity of the day is to hike up Bukit Larut [used to known as Maxwell Hill].

We walked for about 12km up the hill... and another 12km down the hill.... It's a long long road~~

Along the way, we talked to other participants. Took photo with members from my treasure hunt group.

After hiking for about half the distance, our group started to break up as some people walked faster while others trailed at the back.

Me, ChiaPoh & Jacky at Tea Garden [which I didn't even see a shadow of a tea leaf]

Only authorized Land Rovers are allowed to be driven up the hill

A small waterfall

As we go higher, the temperature starting to drop too. Beautiful flowers can be seen along the side of the road and also at the little flower plantation towards the peak of the hill.

Don't ask me the names of the flowers, I don't know.

There're quite a lot of different types of hibiscus.

Roses, nice smell~

We didn't reach the peak of the hill [1250m]. We stopped at the little cafe cum flower plantation I mentioned earlier. It should be around 1100m above sea level.

Out of a sudden, we saw this guy... looks exactly like Raja Petra! But shouldn't be him because he was detained by ISA the day before and wasn't released yet. Raja Petra? or look-alike?

The highest point of Bukit Larut that we reached

Red Team Rox

Everyone that made it there... except HanChin who chose not to join the hiking [wise decision]

Some sceneries from the top... not that breath-taking, honestly

Then we took photos at the little park and playground.

See that guy on swing?

That's him, Jacky. Happy sial...

After we saw so many flora, it's time to see some fauna... First we saw a tortoise about 25cm long.

... and of course a lot of monyets.

When we reached back Multimedia College, it's around 4.30pm already. We can barely walk after that and everyone either walk like a penguin or a duck the next day. =P

I can't believe a small hill like this has a path much longer than Mount Kinabalu, the tallest mountain in South East Asia.

But if you really like hiking, this is a good place for you to go. Feel like conquering another mountain now. Hehe... Billy, out.

Movie Marathon

19 September 2008 @ Halloween

The worst movie I've ever watched. From the beginning till the end, it's about a psycho boy who kills. 15 years later he continues to kill. Boring and lame.

22 September @ Mamma Mia, The Movie

My first musical movie on the silver screen. All thanks to Nuffnang, I got 2 free tickets to watch the movie.

It's all about music and it's all about ABBA's songs. The whole movie is very lively and joyous. If you like ABBA's songs, it's a show not to be missed.

24 September 2008 @ Money No Enough 2

This was a pre-planned outing with all my friends from the TM Induction Course.

As expected, a Jack Neo's production will be full of laughter and tears. Touching scenes that we all can relate to will always appear towards the end of the show.

I wouldn't say it's his best production thus far, perhaps because I don't really understand most conversations and songs in the Hokkien dialect. Anyway, it's still a good movie.

26 September @ Painted Skin

This was a out-of-a-sudden urge from HanChin to watch the movie on that very day itself. So I bought the tickets online for HanChin, ChiaPoh, WoonLee and myself.

We went into the cinema knowing nothing about the story. Even so, enjoyed the movie. [at least it didn't make me fall asleep halfway through]

The movie is about 2 devils killing human beings for the hearts and the people trying to catch the murderer. The climax was a little bit of let down but overally, it's nice but could be better.

Watched 4 movies in 8 days, all in GSC 1Utama. My personal record so far. =P

More updates on Taiping in my next post. Billy, out.

Treasure Hunt in Taiping

13 September 2008 @ Taiping, Perak

Our last weekend in Taiping was team building events. On saturday, Mr. Johari [the person in charge] organized a treasure hunt game around the town.

How lucky am I to sprained my ankle on the day before treasure hunt. Many people asked whether I should stay in my room to rest but how can I let slip a chance to get out and have fun?

The 130 odd people were divided into 10 teams, each team having 12 or 13 members. Me, Eugene, ChiaPoh and HanChin were in the same team [Team 6], uncoincidentally.

The first place we stop by to count the number of pillars

We were given a map and 10 clues to find the answer. We split into 2 after the first stop so that we can get the answers quicker.

The four of us were supposed to go to the places nearer to Multimedia College [starting and ending point] as I can't walk very fast. But ended up walking the most...

We went to Bukit Larut [aka Maxwell Hill], Taiping War Cemetery and a kids playground.

My ankle was hurting but I endure the pain to move on. At times I wonder whether my ankle will ever heal because of my playful-ness.

After gathering all the answers, we head back to MMC. The Malays from our team were waiting for us at the gate already.

When we reach the finish point, there were already more than half of the teams there. I felt bad because I feel that I slowed the team down.

When all the teams checked in, we calculated the score. Out team is the only team that scored full points! Wootz~ This proves that slow and steady wins the race!

Took picture with En. Jo

Too bad there weren't any prizes for the winners. It's merely for team building and for everyone to have fun. Well, I did have fun and made some new friends too.

What never crossed our minds was that Najib [our class representative] used the balance of our funds [for BBQ] to buy a hamper as the prize for the treasure hunt winners on the very last day of our induction course. Thanks dude!

HanChin, Team 6 leader receiving prize from Najib

Once again, we took photo with all the members of Team 6 and distributed the content to everyone.

It was a fun day and I met some really nice people. Good job team 6 and see you all around. Billy, out.

Note: My ankle has healed exceptionally fast after treasure hunt. Thanks for everyone's concern. =P

Taiping Zoo

7 September 2008 @ Taiping, Perak

It's a Sunday and we decided to visit the zoo! "Let's go to the zoo~"

We walked from Multimedia College for about 30 minutes to reach our destination.

ChiaPoh, Jacky, Me, WoonLee, JooLi

Bought the ticket and went straight in. The ticket has a picture of tiger~ =P

Took lots of pictures of the animals in there... Enjoy!

See that cheeky chimpanzee showing off his little brother.. haha!

Reminds me of Storm from X-men

We took a rest half way through the zoo. Some ate ice-cream, some bought cold drinks. Played around the kid's playground and snapped more photos.

ChiaPoh, JooLi, Jacky, HanChin, WoonLee, Mike, ChungSeng, Me
[Eugene behind the camera]

Everyone turned into small kids when they saw the playground!

We walked on after a bunch of monkeys invaded and conquered all the dustbins in the playground. Up next, the birdies...

Eugene was trying to get a closer shot of the hornbill but it ATTACKED! It must have thought that the camera was food and it bit on my camera's wrist strap!

Phew~ It let go after realizing it's not edible. Haha... I like this shot though.

Finally, I saw tiggie~~ So happy to see that they're fit and healthy in there, unlike those in Everland, Korea.

The panther was doing its business when I wanted to take its picture. *shy shy* eh...

Then we saw this. It's actually an elephant's trunk. Someone's feeding leaves to it when we arrive. Poor elephant must be starving in there.

trying to get some food under the electric fence...

... then pang sai in front of me.

It's been a long time since I took a jumping photo. My pose inspired from my jump-shot-sifu, Hofun kor.

It was a really fun day! More posts to come. Billy, out.
