Sleepin'

Today I read an article about the impact of the hours you sleep on your health. The research done in the US found that the volunteers who slept less than 4 hours everyday for 2 weeks have a pre-diabetic symptoms. An average of 40% of college kids in the US sleep less than 4 hours during the weekdays and around 70% of them sleep less than 8 hours. Although most of them sleep about 7/8 hours on weekends, it's still not sufficient to cover back the time loss in sleep. The researchers says that sleeping is as important as breathing, eating and drinking. An animal that doesn't sleep will die and so does a human. A healthy man should get around 7 hours of sleep everyday. Not more, not less. People that sleep more than 9 hours a day may lead to mortality and those who sleep less than 4 hours a day are the worst.

So, I guess this proves that my Philosophy of Life is quite true, huh? To all my friends out there, sleeping is important. Never ever neglect your sleep for assignments or exams. Sleep well, study well. Billy, out.

Swiss Army Knife

Swiss Army Knife or pocket knife is a multifunction tool in short. A standard official Swiss Army Knife has a knurled metal surface with a red emblem and includes a blade, a can opener/screwdriver, a reamer and a bottle-opener/screwdriver/wire stripper. Nowadays, the swiss knives are having more and more tools and functions, such as cork-screw, scissors, toothpick, tweezers, pen, LED light, digital clock and even MP3 player. The 2 main manufacturers of the Swiss Army Knife are Victorinox and Wenger from Switzerland [obviously].

This is the Swiss Army Knife that my cousin bought me all the way from Switzerland. It's a sovenier from her and her husband who went there for honeymoon. It's the official one that Swiss army really use. Hehe.. I like it very much. Thank you, Pui Yee and Eric. Billy, out.

Dictatorship in the Insect World

Today, I read about an interesting article on the newspaper. It's about the way of life for some insects like bees, ants and wasps. These kind of insects are well known that they have a queen whose job is to lay millions of eggs and plenty of hardworking workers that work their ass off everyday finding food or taking care of the youngs and etc. For your information, those workers consists of female insects only. So, where are the guys? Their only job is to mate with the queen. Talking about the workers, they are females but don't they lay eggs too? The answer for that is yes, they do lay eggs. Here comes the catch, the eggs laid by the workers are usually ate by the queen herself or the other workers. Situation varies from different types of insects. For example, honeybee workers seldom lay eggs as they knew that their eggs will be eaten by their "colleagues" and the surviving rate of their eggs is less than one over one thousand. For another type of bee [I forgot the name], the success rate of an egg hatched is quite high because the queen is responsible to dispose the workers' eggs. But how much can a queen eat? So, the workers tend to lay more eggs as their eggs will be more likely to be hatched.

Actually this is just a sumarize version of what I have read. I don't remember some of the details but I do remember that this is a current reseach carried out to prove that the old point of view about these insects are wrong. So, that's about it. Billy, out.

Movie Mania

Studies for Year 2 Trimester 2 has just begun. Though the time during the holidays zoom like the speed of light, I still manage to have some fun and enjoyed myself a bit. The craziest thing [for me] that I have done during the holidays is watching around 20 movies. Don't get me wrong though, I didn't watch all of them in the cinema. Only 6 shows were watched in cinema while the rest I watched at home thru computer or DVD player. I don't usually go to the cinema a lot. But now, it seems like I would never miss a [good] movie that is screened in the cinema. That's so cool because I've always wanted to do that. Hahaha...

For this post, I'll just talk a bit on the movies I've watched on the big screen. The rest.. nah, forget about it. The very first show I watched [with Kuan, Bee and Alfred] right after exam was Silk, a story that revolves about a bunch of scientists who caught a kid ghost and they were trying to figure out his past. You know what? This is the first ever horror film that I watch in the cinema. [and the screening time is mid-night, creepy huh] Luckily it's not that scary and it's quite worth a watch.

On the following week, I broke my personal record for watching 3 movies [with Kuan and Bee] in a day [and ate McDonald's buffet till I can't move]. They were Open Season, World Trade Center and The Grudge 2. Though 3 movies have different feelings, funny, touchy, scary, I think that these 3 are just too plain and gets boring in some parts of the films. Overally, I would rate those 3 as average only.

On the final week of holidays, I watched The Covenant with Kuan, Bee and Ms Yoon [my ex-Korean tutor] at Sunway Pyramid. I was late and I miss the first half of the show. Without knowing what happened in the beginning, I blurly watched the remaining half of the show. It turned out not as great as I have expected though. The very next day, we watch The Prestige in 1Utama to "avenge" my loss and the dissatisfactory of The Convenant. The Prestige is about 2 magicians trying to outdo each other in their magic shows and many terrible things happened. The ending of the story is very very much unexpected. This show is much more interesting that I thought.

What can I say, at least I ended my movie mania holidays with a good show after all. =P Billy, out.

The Culture of Bloggin'

I have been staring at this blank space for a long long time, and I still don't know how to start to write. So, what actually is blogging all about? I don't really know. There are a lot of stuffs that I would like to post here but everytime I open the page to start writing, my mind will go blank and at the end, nothing is posted. So, that's why I have "dissapeared" from this blog since my last post around 2 and a half months ago. Many people may think that I am a lazy blogger [which is partially true], but actually, it's the topic and words that hold me back. Sometimes, I feel that I should post something at my blog but it seems that I can't put my fingers together to type. Weird, don't know why... Hehe... Maybe I'm still not used to expressing what's inside my mind to the outside world. For the past one month of my holiday, I feel that I should penned down those valuable, happy moments I had in my blog. But I ain't going to promote my blog to people like some of friends did. Why? Maybe my blog is not that worth your time to read. What comes around goes around. Those that happened to browse through this page and read my posts are okay. It's not that I'm restricting people from reading but maybe I think that this thing here works as a little online diary to me. Diaries should be secretive right? Haha.. I don't know, never wrote any diaries in my life. =P Well, I guess that's all from this post. Don't even know what have i typed here. Not in the mood to check also. Hehe.. Just a simple crap post. Billy, out.
