Tooth Fairy Movie Review

All thanks to Nuffnang again, I get to watch Tooth Fairy for FREE!! The screening was on Monday night (25 Jan 2010) and I was really glad that my friend WoonLee won herself a pair of tickets too! So there were 4 of us.

I'll just do a short review on this movie to repay back the generosity of Nuffnang. =)


Synopsis:

Dwayne Johnson is “The Tooth Fairy,” also known as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. When Derek discourages a youngster’s dreams, he’s sentenced to one week’s hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first, Derek “can’t handle the tooth” – bumbling and stumbling as he tries to furtively wing his way through strangers’ homes…doing what tooth fairies do. But as Derek slowly adapts to his new position, he begins to rediscover his own forgotten dreams.

So yeah, that synopsis basically sumarizes everything in that movie. A muscular hockey player turning into a cute little tooth fairy. I knew it's going to hilarious. But what I didn't know was... the hilariousity level was so intense that I almost roll off my seat!


It was a real struggle for this hunk to do all these yeeny weeny stuff to sneak into the kid's room and not getting caught. Geesh, you really need a lot of patience and cool gadgets to get you through the people, the cats and the dogs.

There's nothing much to say about this movie. Kinda ridiculously funny in overall. But there was a message that it's trying to convey to all its audience - always believe in your dreams and who knows, maybe one day you will achieve it. And... don't believe anything when an adult told you there's no tooth fairy or santa clause in this world. Haha.. Anyway, this movie be a good laugh after your long day at work/ study lah.

Now, I wish I have some amnesia powder... *poofs* You will forget what you read and read it again tomorrow and *poofs* ... and you will read again the next day and *poofs* ... and so on... *evil grins* Billy, out.

Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa

4 November 2008 @ GSC, Midvalley

Nuffnang was giving away 50 pair of tickets to watch the premiere of Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa two weeks back. But I found out after more than 100 people applied for it. So, I guessed I'll just give it a shot. No harm, right?

Yesterday morning, I received an email from Nuffnang telling me I get to replace some Nuffnangers who can't make it to the screening. I was so excited and called back to confirm my attendance.

Thus I went with ChiaPoh, after work.


As expected, Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe, Gloria the hippo and the 4 penguins took off from Madagascar in hope to reach their "home" - New York.


The journey was joined by King Julien and Maurice [pic below]. He's one hell of a funny guy.


The plane worked well till they're out of fuel and crashed into the land of Africa, Alex's home.


This time around, the producers not only make the movie funny but a little touchy.


What amuses me most was how King Julien was able to convince the Africans to obey him! I like him though, he's funny!

Actually, I didn't enjoy the movie and was thinking to leave halfway because I was having high fever with a headache. Moreover, I think some people are dissatisfied with the seat arrangements as some couples have to sit far apart.

Anyhow, I still thank Nuffnang for inviting me for the movie and sending me the press kit. THANKS!

I like to move it, move it! He likes to move it, move it! She likes to move it, move it! We like to.. MOVE IT with Madagascar 2! Billy, out.

Mamma Mia! The Movie

Familiar with this?

"Mamma mia, here I go again. My, my, how can I resist you?"

And this?

"You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen..."

How about this?

"Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's world"

Yes, they are ABBA's songs and ABBA is one of the most renowned groups in the 70's and 80's.


How would a guy in his early 20's know these songs which were sang before he's even born? Well, it's all the influence from parents. I was forced to listen to Light&Easy [Lite.fm's old name] whenever I sit in the car.

After a while, I started enjoying the English oldies despite the fact that I was teased by some friends for tuning into Lite.fm. Hmmph!

On 25 September 2008, everyone in Malaysia will be able to catch all the famous ABBA songs on the big silver screen - Mamma Mia! The Movie. It is an adaptation of the famous Mamma Mia musical that has been watched by more than 30 million people around the globe.


Mamma Mia! The Movie revolves about a mother, a daughter and three possible fathers. The daughter tried to find the identity of her father to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day.

The lead actress is Meryl Streep, who also acted in Music of the Heart - a heart warming movie based on a true story about a violin teacher trying to adapt to a new city and bringing music to the schoolchildren.

So, I'm really looking forward to see another good performance of Streep and of course, a long list of non-stop musical songs that will make everyone hum along.

Chelsea Training Session

28 July 2008 @ Shah Alam Stadium

Chelsea was in Malaysia and THANKS to Nuffnang, I get to see them in person! (though not really close up with them)


I got two passes to see Chelsea FC train in Shah Alam Stadium one day before the friendly match between Chelsea and Malaysia. I decided to bring along the Liverpool-Big-Fan, my brother.


After a smooth drive to Shah Alam [which I didn't expect], we finally reached the stadium. My first time stepping in there after by-passing it so many times.


I was there one hour before the training starts and there were already hundreds of people.


I tried to find a good spot to take photos and managed to get to stand on the second row near the exit where players come out.


The first player coming out to the field is Petr Čech. People screamed. People shouted. People sang. People fainted. OK, no one fainted.


Moments later, the team led by John George Terry came out. That's the best shot I got, their backs...

There're more and more people in the stadium and a lot of them were actually wearing Chelsea's jersey. I can't believe some of them actually dare to wear pirated Chelsea jersey to see the players. Haha...


Then, the players were separated into two teams to play against each other using only half the field. Quite interesting to see them play.


We hit the roads before the crowd jammed up the place. Bye bye Chelsea! Bye bye Shah Alam Stadium!
