It was my birthday!!

My dear JooLi brought me to the Secret of Louisiana for pasta!! Oh she knows me too well.. keke...


For only RM15.50, you get:
- free flow of Iced Lemon Tea
- free flow of Soup
- free flow of Garden Green Salad
- Ice cream
- Tea / Coffee
- and UNLIMITED servings of pasta!
*weekdays only


There were 8 different types of pasta to choose from... and they're all good!


We ordered 6 servings of pasta and we're stuffed... Can't imagine how the record-breaker can consume more than 10 servings!


Our lunch ended with a scoop of ice-cream each.


And it's presents time!

A Day in Sungai Petani

A close friend of mine was getting married in the far north. So decided to take a road trip with JooLi to explore the northern Malaysia!


We had a pit stop at Ipoh for a quick lunch and bought some yummy and fluffy Kaya Puffs from Sin Eng Heong, located on Jalan Mustapha Al-Bakri. Just two roads down from the famous Lou Wong Taugeh Chicken Rice shop.



17 June 2011 @ Sungai Petani

Then we headed up north for a couple more hours to reach Aunty Linda's house. Once there, we were immediately greeted with food. Uncle Low bought a few packets of 60sen Nasi Lemak for everyone. Small in size but taste was great.


Sungai Petani is in Kedah and Kedah is also known as the "rice bowl" of Malaysia as rice production is a major economy of the state.

Sad to say this but I've never really been to a real paddy field. So i begged Aunty Linda to bring me to there.


OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! I touched paddy in the real paddy field!

I was hoping to see golden paddy fields but I was satisfied with a green one.


Then we went on to town for sight-seeing. I was told that the two most interesting buildings in town are the Clock Tower and the HSBC building.


The clock tower on the main street Jalan Ibrahim was built in 1936 and it was a present from Lim Lean Teng to George V and Queen Mary to commemorate the Silver Jubilee. (Wikipedia, 2011)


Just beside the clock tower, you will see the British colonial style HSBC building, which is still in use.

In the evening, we went to a hawker centre for dinner and Aunty Linda ordered Tua Pan [pic below]. I've never seen or tasted Tua Pan before and it's quite appetizing.


Before we depart the next morning, we were brought to another shop for more food. I had Char Kueh Kak, otak-otak, chive dumplings and yam cake for breakfast. Fuh!

We wished we could have stayed longer but we've gotta run to the wedding luncheon. We're really grateful to have Uncle Low and Aunty Linda offering their place for us to put a night. Thanks!! Billy, out.

JooLi's Birthday at Porky Cristang & WIP

First time to this place, Cristang Restaurant is well hidden at 8 Avenue Business Centre, PJ State.


If you have not noticed the word on the glass wall, this shop is all about PORK! Everything on the menu is pork unless stated otherwise. Cool eh?


Based on a the reviews I've read, I guess the Must-Try food there is their pork burger. And no doubt it's the best and most sinful pork burger I've ever had.

On top of all the pork patty, cheese, bacon, minced pork chili con carne, shrimps, pineapple... They added a Malaysian touch to the Western cuisine - petai into the patty.

I have no balls to order the whole burger with stuffed petai, so I've only tasted a spoonful from others. And surprisingly it's delicious!

There are other types of food that you can order if pork burger doesn't suit your taste buds.


Later that night, we went back to JooLi's place for the cake cutting ceremony. Her wish was granted - a whole Mille Crepe cake for her birthday. To top that up, 2 tubs of her all time favourite Ben & Jerry's ice cream from yours truly. =)

The food was just okay for me despite the price I have to pay for. But I do like the ambiance there, a pretty decent place to hang out and have a drink.


Celebrations are always filled with good food. Looking at my huge belly now, I wonder when can I go for another round of Cristang pork burger... Billy, out.

Homemade Pan Mee

Pan Mee (扳面) is a Hakka-style noodle, originating from Malaysia. Its Chinese name literally translates to flat flour noodle. (Wikipedia, 2011)

Pan Mee is one of my favourite type of noodles and my mom used to make her own for lunch every now and then. The adventurous side of me tickled me to try to make it all by myself. So I pulled JooLi along to be my co-chef.

Ingredients for the noodles (4 servings):
- 500g flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon oil
- water


Knead the flour, egg and oil together and add water occasionally to make them stick together. Knead, knead, knead until your flour rolls into one big smooth lump. Be careful not to add too much water though.


Besides the noodles, we also did:
- Soup (boiled with ikan bilis, vege & meatballs)
- Meat sauce (stir fried minced pork & sliced mushrooms)
- Fried ikan bilis
- Half-cooked eggs
- Chili flakes (bought from Chili Pan Mee shop)
- Spring onions & fried shallots for garnishing

The rest is pretty simple. Flatten the noodles. Tear/cut them into pieces and boil them. Then drain the water and add the other ingredients in as you like and... Wua-Lah!

Anniversary Dinner at Outback Steakhouse

Everytime I bypass Bangsar Village, I feel like dining at this place. It's the Outback Steakhouse!


We decided to try it out on this special occasion. The description of the food is quite seductive, but not the price though... Hehehe...

#1: Bushman 'Shrooms

We ordered a starter for our dinner - Bushman 'Shrooms. It's platter of mushrooms breaded and deep fried served with spicy ranch dressing. You've gotta eat this while it's still hot. The mushrooms are so juicy you have to be careful not to squirt to your friend when biting it.

#2: Her all time favourite Fish 'N Chips

#3: BBQ Chicken Quarter For Me

The chicken is very tender but I love the potato most. The sauce on the chicken has a 'lil sweet taste, not a good choice for those who doesn't fancy sweety dish.

Melaka Foodies

The second day of Melaka trip was mostly filled with food, food, food.

For our lunch, we decided to head for the Peranakan Food at the famous Makko Restaurant at Melaka Raya. We had to wait a some time before getting a place to sit.

It was Jacky's birthday, it was also our 2nd friendship anniversary aka Start-Work-In-TM anniversary. Blarh, just giving some excuses for the TM Gang to spend some chitty chatty time together. But too bad Cheryl and Eugene can't make it to my house AGAIN.

I volunteered to host the party and we had BBQ that night! Oh look at those glorious food!!!
